Richard Bedwash, 1936-2007, was an Ojibway from Long Lac near Thunder Bay Ontario. His work featured images that represent the stories and legends of the Ojibway heritage. They mostly depicted the animal figure and its symbolic and spiritual meaning to the people. Bedwash's style is known as Woodland Spirit Art. It was made famous and popularized by well known Canadian Artist Norval Morrisseau. During his adult life, Richard was fortunate to spend one entire year painting with Morriseau.
