One of the few artists who lived her entire life at Baker Lake, Kukiiyaut was encouraged to draw by Jack and Sheila Butler in her 40s. From the beginning she explored the traditional themes of hunting, spirit transformations, birds in flight as well as the teachings of Anglican missionaries. She has a natural tendency towards abstraction.
